Hornady LEVERevolution ammunition is a favorite among many lever-action rifle owners and features polymer-tipped bullets that provide superior spitzer ballistics. The non-metallic tip of this .45 Long Colt ammo is safe to use in the tubular magazines of lever guns and helps initiate more effective expansion of the hollow point projectile.
Each cartridge in this case of 200 fires a 225-grain Flex Tip bullet at a muzzle velocity of 960 feet per second. Compared to other .45 Colt loads, this ammunition is relatively powerful and produces strong terminal ballistics along with above-average recoil. It can be used effectively in a hunting or home defense role in both revolvers and long guns.
Hornady ammo is made in Grand Island, Nebraska using non-corrosive Boxer primers and reloadable brass cases.

I took a beautiful whitetail with this round last season; terminal expansion was text-book perfect with massive energy transfer. It feeds flawlessly through my Marlin. My only complaint is for handloaders: Hornady uses slightly shorter brass cases than standard .45 Colt to keep the overall cartridge length within spec with that long FTX bullet. It makes reloading the spent brass a bit tricky with standard dies.

The rubber tip handles recoil inside a tubular magazine perfectly and completely eliminates the risk of chain-fires. It cycles like butter through my lever-gun. However, when I tried loading them into my modern single-action revolver, the polymer tips were just long enough to drag slightly against the forcing cone on a couple of chambers. It’s a stellar rifle round, just test it in your pistols first.

This ammo completely transforms my lever-action rifle. The pointed elastomeric FTX tip allows me to safely load a spitzer bullet into a tubular magazine, and the downrange accuracy at 100 yards is incredible compared to flat-nose lead. The only reason it’s 4 stars instead of 5 is that the slightly elongated tip shape means I lose one round of capacity in my magazine tube.
